What Is Ayushman Bharat Yojana?

Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana also known as “PM-JAY” is a government provided health care insurance program provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of India. This being a poverty alleviation program gives access to health care for people of India those in need. This program was launched in India on 23rd September, 2018. The scheme provides a cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per year for a family for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. Over 10.74 crore poor and vulnerable entitled families are eligible for the benefits of this scheme.

Ayushman Bharat Registration

The beneficiary doesn't have to register separately for this scheme. If the person is eligible, they can avail it. To check if the person is eligible for the scheme, the given instructions are to be followed:

  • Enter the website and click on “Am I eligible?”
  • Enter the mobile number, captcha code and generate the otp.
  • Enter your name, state and the information asked.
  • When you search after giving your details, the result will show if you are eligible or not. Once you are eligible, you can get the e-card for the scheme.

How To Download Ayushman Bharat Card?

  • After completing the eligibility checking process, you need to take a print out of your Ayushman Bharat card .
  • You have to get yourself identified at the nearest empanelled hospital or Community Service Centre (CSC).
  • your identity is verified at a PMJAY kiosk. You need to provide a proof document (Aadhaar card or ration card). 
  • Family identification proofs that can be produced include a government certified list of members, PM letter and an RSBY card. 
  • Once the verification is completed, your e-card is printed along with the unique ID.

The eligibility criteria is given for the people in Rural areas and the people in Urban areas separately.

For Rural Areas:

  • People living in scheduled caste and scheduled tribe households.
  • Families that has no male member aged 16 to 59 years
  • Beggars and those surviving on alms
  • Families with no individuals aged between 16 and 59 years
  • Families having at least one physically challenged member and no able-bodied adult member
  • Landless households who make a living by working as casual manual labourers
  • Primitive tribal communities
  • Legally released bonded labourers
  • Families living in one-room makeshift houses with no proper walls or roof
